Control and Chaos is a kinetic sculpture that I made together with spatial designer Kasper van der Houven.
For this project I wanted to use principles of animation with a spatial design.
We, as humans beings, see everything we don't understand as chaos. It is our self-appointed duty to understand and control everything that we don't understand.
Control and Chaos is a moving sculpture that changes shape. When left alone the sculpture moves freely and randomly. But as soon as someone approaches the installation, it will fall back into a rigid ergonomic shape. The design and movements were based on aquatic plant live. The movements are so slow that it's barely visible, and yet it gives the indication that it's alive.
We designed the installation to be a combination of organic movement and human rigid shapes.
this installation was programmed with Arduino.
